4J ACRES SCOTCH COLLIES

4JAcres Farm is a small homestead of 12 acres.  Our goal since 2003 has been to establish a very strong Sojourner line that goes back to Richard McDuffie's dog Ole Shep, and to re-create an older type collie once prevalent 50 - 200 years ago. This involves careful outcrossing and inbreeding to preserve the traits that make these dogs special while maintaining good health.  In 2023, it will be 20 years of loving and investing our lives to bringing back these very special rare collies. I have personally seen what Guy Ormiston said in his book, New Guide to Breeding Old Fashioned Working Dogs, " THE NEW BREED WAS IN THE OLD CONCEALED. THE OLD IS IN THE NEW REVEALED. We have decided to retire from breeding and will be mentoring and helping instead. The 4JAcres Line is a Foundation line of the Old Time Scotch Collie Organization /OTSC and can be seen in most Scotch Collie pedigrees today.   If you are wanting a pup from this line, we encourage you to go to CONTACTS  for more information.

Our Scotch Farm Collies/OTFC are very loving, fun, smart and loyal. We lovingly raise our dogs to help in many different capacities. They are very versatile and can be trained to do just about anything. They are healthy, strong and agile, giving them the ability to do their jobs well. They are not only great working, guarding, and hunting dogs, but make great family pets. Many of our collies have become Service and Therapy dogs. Our desire is to help you get the CHARACTER  of collie that you want. Therefore, we do not sale by color.  Instead, we wait until the pups are 6-7 weeks old to help you choose the pup with the right temperament/character that you want. It is our desire to help you make an informed pick of a puppy. For 12 years we have used the  Puppy Aptitude Test developed by Joachim and Wendy Volhard.
